The Instructor Course at Bennett Career Institute is a comprehensive 1000-clock-hour program designed to enhance the skills acquired in the General Cosmetology Course or General Barbering Course. In addition to refining practical skills, students will receive training in educational techniques, curriculum development, and classroom management. Instruction on the use of instructional aids, advertising, merchandising, and record-keeping techniques is also included. The program is designed to prepare students to become proficient instructors in their chosen field.

OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After completing the program and passing the DC State Board of Cosmetologists/Barber-Stylist Instructor Examination for licensure, students will be qualified to pursue employment as instructors in a school of cosmetology or barbering. (SOC Codes 39-5011.00 and 39-5012.00)

REQUIREMENTS FOR DC STATE BOARD EXAMINATION FOR Instructor

To be eligible to receive an instructor's license the applicant shall meet the following requirements:
  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Have completed 1000 hours of fundamental training
  • Hold a Cosmetology or Barber license for 6 months
